Getting Started
Although Facebook can be a great way to connect with friends and family, it can be your funnel to get new bookings for your hospitality business. If you’re not sure where to start, here are some of my top tips.
1) Create a Business Page
To create a business Page on Facebook, you need to create a separate profile that is specifically for your business. Pages look similar to personal profiles, but there are some unique features that are helpful for businesses and brands. Your fans can Like your Page to see updates from you in their News Feeds. This is different than with personal profiles, where people can’t see updates from someone unless they are friends with them.
2) Claim your Custom URL
After you have created your business Page, it will be given a number and URL, such as facebook.com/pages/yourbusiness/123456789. To make your Page more easily shareable and found by people, you will want to create a recognizable vanity URL, such as http://www.facebook.com/hospitalitytools.
3) Add a Captivating Cover Photo
Facebook’s page design lets you feature a photo that is 820 pixels wide and 312 pixels high at the top of your business Page. You’ll want to make sure to use an image that will grab the attention of new visitors, encourage them to stick around and learn more about your company and provide an effective mobile experience — all while following Facebook’s Page Guidelines.
4) Add a Brand-related Profile Picture
Pick a Facebook profile picture that will be easy for visitors to recognize – like your company logo, or maybe just yourself if you’re working alone as an independent contractor. Being recognizable is important when it comes time to get found and Liked on social media sites such as this one! Your Profile Image appears at the top of every page so make sure they know who’s calling forth by giving them something eye-catching enough that people won’t pass over it in favor of another post right away
5) Optimize your “About” section
Your about section is one of the first things people see when they arrive on your page. It’s important to have a preview that accurately reflects what you’re all about so visitors can make an educated decision whether or not they want more information from your page!
6) Earn the “Very responsive to messages” Badge.

If you respond quickly to most people who message you on Facebook, you can earn a badge called “Very responsive to messages.” If your response rate is 90% and your response time is 15 minutes over the last seven days, then you will earn this badge.
If you’re responsive to messages but haven’t quite earned the badge, Facebook will show how responsive you are to visitors.
7) Choose a call-to-action button.
Facebook gives you the option to place a call-to-action button at the top of your Facebook Page. This is a handy feature that lets people know what you want them to do. There are several pre-made buttons to choose from, and you can pick the one that best aligns with your business goals. The button can link to your homepage, a landing page, a contact sheet, a video, or somewhere else.
Conclusion
Are you ready to take your Facebook marketing up a notch?
Once you have your page set up, make sure to claim your custom URL and add some eye-catching visuals. And don’t forget to optimize your “About” section so potential customers can learn more about what you do.
Finally, consider adding a call-to-action button to drive even more traffic to your site. Ready to get started? Download our free social media content calendar and let’s get started!
